In 1999, Robbie and Laurie’s son Eliot died at 16 from AIDS-related complications. When Eliot learned of his illness as a boy, he made it his mission to make a difference in the lives of others.  He dedicated himself to educating others, speaking at schools and with news media all across the Commonwealth.  He appeared in national publications and television shows, talking about living with AIDS.   Eliot’s openness helped remove the stigma that so many before him had suffered and his bravery inspired thousands of people.
